about

This song is an inspired, funky tribute to being in the moment, following your bliss, and getting some needed perspective and time away. Written and refined in the last days before the pandemic hit, we created it while touring, traveling, and visiting friends and family while it was still easily accessible, without hesitation. It is a dance-worthy song that will make your body want to move. Roll Down the Coast was inspired by traveling along the California coast and taking in the awesome beauty of the nature that exists there. This song came through like a channel or chant from a source larger than us and speaks to a deeper self-awareness around what nourishes us most in our bodies and minds. Nature is a powerful inspiration for us in Honey of the Heart, often mentioned and sourced as a muse in most of our music.

lyrics

I want to go, roll down the coast
To where the big, waves roll
I want to see, all of the trees
from Big Sur to Mendo

to bring me to, this gratitude
right here in this moment with you
I want to go, roll down the coast
To where the big, waves roll...

I flow to float a prayer meant to reach through
The warm breeze in hopes to find you
To breathe gratitude into our souls & more
Appreciate the small things & what we're here for

Sit back relax and find peace to be safe
Standing still or moving slowly like the big trees teach
Make movement feel good and strong with roots grounding deep like
Friendship seems like family roots a memory find
Teach our children to play like dirt and water to make mud right
Mess turns to laughter and divide turns to prayer like
Respect throughout community and differences bowed down to
History shows us how we must find paths to strive through
Tall forests and underbrush pushed and hacked through
machete-like tools for vision to get to
Seeking a path of symbiotic collisions
Burst past the atoms and merge with the visions
Get past divide and work through this fission

Live strong in the way we really want to
Keep forward and appreciate impromptu
Gratitude coming in from the outer scene
We’ve gotta look for, what we really wanna see

Got the big beat coming from inside of you
You’ve got the feeling and that’s always a good clue
Your dancing feet keep immunity all through and through
Shed the blame & reach for me I reach for you

This is what we need
Outside reflected by the inside
This is what we see
This is how we pray

This is what we need
Outside reflected by the inside
This is what we see
This is how we stay

Collision of rhythm, I'm feeling the fissure its
Hitting the ceiling, ecstatic bringing healing fits
Shake up the break-up, take up space, and just buck up
Pushing the envelope, you can't make this stuff up

So I can flow
Keep up with my soul
so I can hope
Keep my heart whole

The collision of rhythm...

I want to go, roll down the coast
To where the big, waves roll
I want to see, all of the trees
from Big Sur to Mendo

To bring me to, this gratitude
right here in this moment with you
I want to go, roll down the coast
To where the big, waves roll
